Before two MVP candidates in James Harden and Russell Westbrook matched up Sunday afternoon, Grantland’s Bill Simmons had a lot on his mind about the Thunder trading away James Harden.

Enter a well timed “Let it go” from Kevin Durant. Seriously Bill, no one really cares. We get that you predicted it would happen in your article, we get that you’re the outspoken “rebel” child of ESPN and we all understand you’re extremely narcissistic.
The Thunder have done just fine without James Harden. Sure, they would be doing much better with him on the team, but is there any way to be sure? If the Thunder kept James Harden would they still have one of the premier defensive big men in the game in Serge Ibaka? If they kept James Harden would the Thunder still have Russell Westbrook? Would a team with Harden, Durant, Westbrook, and Ibaka be able to keep up with the Spurs or the Heat (before this season? Days could pass without finding an answer because there are no answers. James Harden was traded and that was that.
Bill, instead of focusing on what the Thunder could have been without James Harden focus on what the Rockets are with James Harden.
Thank you Kevin Durant for sticking up for all of the people who really just don’t care what Bill Simmons had to say a few years ago.
