For Wade It’s NBA Championship Or Bust

When your team sports three of the best NBA players, there are lots of high expectations to win it all.

Especially if those three players are Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron James.

Though the Miami Heat sputtered out of the gate last season, the team was one of the top teams down the stretch and easily took out the top-seeded Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference Finals.

And though their trip to the NBA Finals did end up in a series loss to the Dallas Mavericks, this season Wade says it will be another bust if Miami isn’t walking away with the Larry O’Brien trophy in the summer. Though he feel it won’t be an excuse to break up Miami’s “Big Three.”

Wade doesn’t see it as a make-or-break season for keeping the Big Three together, “no concern about that.” But, “If we don’t win a championship, yes, it’s a bust year. Last year was a bust year.”

Let’s face it, the East is top-heavy when it comes to power teams. Aside from Miami, there is really only Chicago, and Boston to deal with. Sure, Orlando will be in the thick of things as long as Dwight Howard is in uniform, and Indiana is making nice moves to the roster, but the road is seemingly paved for a return trip to the NBA Finals for the Heat.

And that road is looking great. The team added savvy veteran and defensive ace Shane Battier to the mix, Udonis Haslem will be back and healthy, the team resigned James Jones, Juwan Howard, and more importantly, Mario Chalmers who did step up his game during the team’s run to the Finals. And who knows if Chauncey Billups might join the team now that New York has parted ways with him.

The team is in tact for the most part, and that familiarity will be key in another run to the Finals. Unlike last season, Miami should come out of the gates raring to go seeing how the team can’t rely on the “chemistry” excuse this time around.

Sure Miami’s “Big Three” may not be in a “make-or-break” season, after shelling out that kind of cash for James and Bosh, no way would Miami’s brass trade one or two of them. It would be like admitting it was a mistake.

However, if any one person on the bench is in a “make-or-break” season has to be head coach Eric Spoelstra. If he can’t deliver a second title in Miami, expect him to be on the hot-seat.
