LeBron James, like many great athletes of our generation are especially critical of their team’s performance, and he and his Cavaliers are in one of those times.
James made quite the statement Thursday after shootaround as the Cavaliers prepared to play the Milwaukee Bucks in Cleveland in hopes of preventing a three-game skid.
LeBron, from ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:
I’m not sitting up here saying it’s Armageddon or anything like that, but we need to play better ball. Until we own that, we won’t get better.”
The Cavs most recent loss game in a 104-99 loss to the Pistons in Detroit, and as a result cancelled practice Wednesday and instead opted for the film room.
Of course as always, as Cavalier struggles come, as do criticisms of head coach David Blatt and questions surrounding his job security, which James also shut down quickly, saying, “He does his job as great as any coach can do in this league. It’s up to us to go out and produce.”
If the Hawks fail to find the win column Thursday night, they’ll face a tougher task Saturday night at home against one of the bigger contenders in the Eastern Conference and the Atlanta Hawks.
