The San Antonio Spurs have a franchise rich in history. From their ABA roots, George "Iceman" Gervin's "finger rolls," David Robinson's quadruple-double game, Sean Elliott's "Memorial Day Miracle" to the franchise's four NBA titles in 1999, 2003, 2005, and 2007.
However, those four titles (and not to mention their stamp as one of the best teams in NBA history) would not have been possible without one man – Tim Duncan.
TD has led the franchise to national prominence, their dynasty run in the early 2000's and much more. So it goes without saying, if there was no Duncan, there may not have been a two titles for Robinson, the making of the "Big 3" of TD, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Head coach Gregg Popovich may not have been the coach he is today and the list goes on and on.
So on this Spurs day let's go back to 1997 when the Spurs made him the number one overall pick in the draft.
