Two years ago on Christmas Day, State Farm introduced us to the world of Chris Paul and his alter ego/twin brother Cliff Paul.
The ad campaign was ingenious as both the basketball verison and the argyle-sweater-wearing insurance agent version both assisted in their own way. The ad campaign took off in a way the insurance giant could not have imagined. Clippers fans began waving the giant head of Cliff Paul and it seemed like references to the ad campaign continued on and on.
Win for State Farm and the Dom Draper who created the campaign.
This Christmas, the ad campaign is back featuring a look back to the roots of the assist game and co-starring Chris Paul's son — he of the Blake face.

So now that we know where assists come, apparently nobody passed the basketball in the early 20th century. That seems like a really dumb way to play basketball. Thank you Chris Paul Sr. Sr. Sr. for creating the assist.
Games tipoff at noon for those sitting around watching NBA basketball all Christmas. Chris Paul's Clippers have the nightcap and main event of the evening with a trip to Oakland to take on the Warriors at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
