Yesterday we shared the video of J.R. Smith untying Shawn Marion's shoelaces while waiting on a free throw. Smith not so subtly bends over with his hands on his knees and unties the knot on Marion's shoe.
It was great NBA hilarity and the league told Smith not to do it again. We can all have a laugh over it, can't we?
Well, not if Smith ignores that directive. Now we can have a deep, belly laugh about it and Smith can donate some of his salary to his favorite charity.
Tuesday night against the Pistons, J.R. Smith found himself standing next to Greg Monroe waiting on a free throw and he thought he might give it a go:

As you can see, Monroe was wise to Smith's moves and moved his foot before Smith could separate it from his shoe.
J.R. Smith must have lost a bet or something because, this is just too hilarious for someone to just do on his own. Then again, it is J.R. Smith.
The NBA, though, is not laughing. The league fined Smith $50,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct. The release from the league said Smith was warned to refrain from such activity after the first incident before he proceeded to do it again.
