Reports still have Boston trying to trade for Kevin Love

It is safe to say Kevin Love’s time in Minnesota is done.

Minnesota has been trying to trade the All-Star forward but so far, no trade has panned out such as the one reported trade to the Warriors.

However, reports are still floating about that the Celtics are trying to land the big man according to the Boston Globe.

However, a league source said Monday that president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is attempting to gather assets to acquire Kevin Love, convinced he can devise a package that would entice Minnesota Timberwolves president Flip Saunders to move the three-time All-Star, who will be a free agent next season.

The issue with Boston is which players will Ainge present to Saunders? Outside of Rajon Rondo, Boston does not have munch unless you count the unproven NBA rookie Marcus Smart.

Boston does not have the cap space and even if the team swings a deal for Love, then Love will be with a team depleted of talent to make noise in the postseason. Something that hurt Minnesota as they never gave Love the needed role players to make it to the West postseason.

It is a long shot for Boston to secure a trade for Love. The team’s three-team trade also gave the Celtics more expiring contracts to offer. It is a long shot, but Boston remains in the game.
