As October inches closer and training camp usually starting in a matter of weeks, so does the final word on whether there will be a new NBA season or if games will be lost due to the lockout.
And as much as there has been some positive news lately that the season will be saved comes this not-so-great news from the National Basketball Players Association director Billy Hunter (via CBS Sports’ Ken Berger):
Hunter bombshell: “We’ve advised (players) they may have to sit out half the season before we get a deal.”
Fantastic. It’s the 1998-1999 season in the making. You remember that shortened season. The 50-game regular season sprint to the playoffs.
What more can be said on the topic really? Both sides seem to be oceans apart and if this news is any indication, then it’s not looking like an on-time start for the new season.
Training camps will more than likely be cancelled, and even more players might head out overseas.
The NBA, it’s fantastic.
