Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal is on the up and up after suffering a fractured left wrist in an October preseason game.
Coach Randy Wittman did not give an exact date on a return for the prolific shooter, but is hoping that the game against the Cavaliers on Friday is a realistic return date.
Of course, Wittman does not want to push it because Beal’s long-term health for the season is more important than any one game. Wittman said that conditioning will also factor in to his decision to let Beal play.
However, the sooner the Wiz can get him back, the better. Garrett Temple has been filling in and has been struggling hard. He has missed 16 of 18 in his last three games and went 0 for 3 on Saturday against the Magic.
You might say Beal is being missed at this point in the season despite the Wizard’s 7-2 record. Those wins have come against some weak competition though, and the Wizards do not have other guys sitting on the bench who can really help.
It is basically Temple and Glen Rice Jr. out there trying to carry the load at shooting guard, but it definitely won’t be enough. Beal did participate in some shooting and dribbling drills without any breaks and unhindered so that bodes well for the near future and this team.
