Los Angeles Lakers’ soon-to-be Metta World Peace may be set to cut a rug on Dancing with the Stars but he also might be ready to become the next psychic pro-athlete with this gem on how the Lakers will end the upcoming season.
“Win it all,” Artest said when asked what will the Lakers do in the 2011-2012 season. “Win the whole thing. That’s a guarantee.”
Pretty bold prediction from the current Ron Artest, but I am pretty sure the Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, and the other contenders will have something to say.
Regardless, it will be tough for Los Angeles to make good on Artest’s claim.
Kobe Bryant has dealt with a nagging knee injury, Pau Gasol is playing in the Eurobasket tournament which might add fatigue to the All-Star should LA make a deep run in the 2012 playoffs, Derek Fisher isn’t a spring chicken, and who knows what you will get out of Andrew Bynum let alone will he remain injury-free. Also, how will the team bounce back mentally after getting swept in the playoffs?
However, perhaps the bigger road block to Artest looking like Nostradamus come June 2012 will be how new head coach Mike Brown rallies the troops and brings together the team now that Phil Jackson has retired.
The cards are stacked against the Lakers having another championship parade in the streets of LA. Perhaps Artest should be focusing on trying to win a dancing title. It might be the only title he will win.
