Blazers’ Watthews Must Have Forgotten There’s A Lockout

Can you imagine your employer telling you that your job is on hold for an undetermined amount of time, you will not be getting paid, and your health benefits will stop immediately? Scary thought isn’t it?  In essence that’s what NBA and its owners told the players when the decision was made to start the lockout.

So despite the players being paid millions, you would think they would still be smart enough to watch every dime and make sure not to spend senselessly, right?

Well don’t tell that to Portland Trail Blazers’ Wesley Matthews as he recently dropped $80,000.00 on a brand new 2011 Audi A8:

“Awwwwwww the vehicle has arrived,” Matthews exclaimed on Twitter. “Hyped!”

OK we get it Matthews, you are a mega-rich professional athlete but in case you forgot, you currently do not have a job! Heck, even your fellow player, New York Knicks guard (and Players Union VP) Roger Mason, sold his Bentley to make sure he is financially set during this NBA lockout.

This lockout has no end in sight and if you consider how far apart each side is in negotiations, the possibility of no NBA season still exists. Dropping 80k on a new car might have been a not so wise decision.

Here is some advice to anyone associated with Matthews: if he gives you any financial tips… run!
