Exclusive: David Stern On The Letterman Show After The 98-99 Lockout

While we wait with anticipation for news from the labor negotiations currently in progress in New York, it might be time to take a break and travel back in time to see what David Stern was up to after the last NBA lockout that shortened the 1998-99 season.

NBA fans returning to arenas at the start of the season were rewarded for their loyalty with a free CD proudly displaying their new slogan “I STILL Love This Game” and filled with music tracks from the likes of Mariah Carey, Will Smith and Luther Vandross.

Since the music is a bit dated it didn’t hold much of my interest, but the CD-ROM content inside revealed an amusing clip of David Stern showing up at the Late Show With David Letterman to read a Top 10 list to get fans excited about the NBA again with some new slogans for the league.

Of course, some of these fake slogans could still work today if we indeed have an NBA season, such as “We all just lost a lot of money so please tip your point guard”.

Enjoy…
