When the lockout ends and players are inevitably asked about what they did during the time away, some will say they stayed in shape, played in a few pro-am games, played overseas, or relaxed with family. But Pau and Marc Gasol would totally win the award for “Best Use Of Time During The Lockout” because nothing says “win” other than getting paid to star a beer commercial.
The Gasol brothers are featured in an ad (via dailynews.com) for San Miguel where Pau exclaims how seeing his brother’s name fills him with pride after a little one-on-one. This, of course, results in them sitting back and chugging a cold one.
You know both of them flubbed their lines in order to drink repeatedly. I know for sure I would.
But now that they are getting paid to promote this beer, perhaps Pau can drown his sorrows with copious amount of San Miguel as he reflects on how his Lakers got swept in the playoffs. Or perhaps Zach Randolph can hit up Marc for some free cold ones seeing how he is in a bit of a pickle right now and can use an escape. Heck, Pau can bring a few cases to new head coach Mike Brown because I have a feeling he is going to need it next season.
And if you are the Lakers and Grizzlies’ training staff, you better hope they don’t come into training camp with beer guts, reeking of San Miguel, and habitually asking for some San Miguel during breaks instead of water or Gatorade.
