So this can’t be good.
It’s bad enough the NBA lockout has shelved all preseason games including the first two weeks of the upcoming season comes this nugget of bad news.
According to everyone’s favorite NBA Commissioner, David Stern, if no deal is done by Tuesday, the lockout can last until Christmas and wipe out the marquee Christmas games. Fun huh?
Seems this lockout is going to get worse before it gets any better but how much credence can we put into his claim? Is this more posturing on his part and the owners? Is this to bait the players union to cave into what the owners wants, a 50-50 BRI split? Who knows.
All fans know is that it might be quite sometime before their favorite NBA team is back on the hardwood but will they embrace the NBA’s return? Already the NBA’s on TV network is suffering a decline in ratings. A sign of things to come and more should this lockout drag on indefinitely.
One thing is clear, Stern has shot a huge missile across the bow of the players’ side. Will the players blink remains to be seen. However, it’s no secret players have been chomping at the bit to get back on the court. They have taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure and yearning to play ball. Yet they are steadfast in their support of their union but you got to ask if some of them are frustrated they are in limbo, and might be ready to end this.
Now all we can do is wait for Tuesday and brace for the inevitable.
And with that, take it away Bette Davis.
