Lockout Update: Intense Discussions, Regular Season Games In Jeopardy

The NBA lockout rages on and both sides met today and the result was not good.

In sum, no new CBA was hammered out, there is still a wide divide on the economics/money, and like past meetings, nothing got done. However, according to Derek Fisher, expect the rest of the preseason games to be canceled soon with the early regular season games now in jeopardy.

Instead of pouring through the Internet for the updates galore, here are the highlights (via hoopshype.com) from Fisher himself on today’s meeting:

  • Players were “informed that we’re not close enough on the economics to close the gap.”
  • Fisher said players offered to reduce share to 53 percent, a giveback of $1 billion over next six years.
  • This is not just about how this will impact us today, or over the next five or six years.
  • Not sure when the next meetings will be held. Not expecting to meet tomorrow or in the near future.

Read bullet point number two again. Crazy huh?

Well there you have it Crossover fans. The NBA season is on thin ice and at the rate these talks are going, we could be staring at either a shortened season or no season at all.

As I said before, I will say it again, in the end the fans lose.
