Own A Piece Of Bulls’ History

photo: nba.comThe Chicago Bulls of the 90’s are arguably the dynasty of all dynasty’s in NBA history. The franchise recorded six NBA titles during the 90’s, including a NBA record of 72 win 1995-1996 season, and made up of a rosters which included Scottie Pippen, Bill Cartwright, Dennis Rodman, Steve Kerr, Toni Kukoc, and of course, Michael Jordan.

Indeed the Bulls’ dynasty was a memorable time in NBA history and it all got started in 1991 when the Bulls won their first title. They recorded a then-franchise record 61 wins, swept the defending champion Pistons in the conference finals and won the Finals in five over the Los Angeles Lakers. Jordan went on to win the Finals MVP.

The 1991 squad launched it all for the Bulls and now you can own a piece of that history courtesy of Horace Grant. Grant is auctioning off his collection of autographed sneakers from that season’s squad.

The 17 year NBA veteran is auctioning off a rare collection of autographed sneakers from his teammates on the 1991 NBA Champion Chicago Bulls. Horace, Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan teamed up to help capture the first of three-straight NBA titles that year and tipped off the Bulls’ dynasty.

Grant, Pippen, Jordan along with John Paxton, Bill Cartwright and BJ Armstrong signed sneakers for the auction. NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen also provided an autographed jersey.

Talk about two totally awesome pieces of NBA history, especially if you are a sneaker head. But why is Grant parting with these babies? Grant is trying to help raise funds for his daughter’s school.

“This community and this school have so to speak adopted me as one of their own and it’s a way to give something back,” said Grant. “I can’t think of a better school than Saint Pat’s to offer these shoes for a great cause.”

A worthy cause, check. Sweet kicks to win and show off to your pals, double check. What more do you need? We’re talking about the Chicago team that launched the first of two three-peats. Jordan’s “John Hancock” is well worth the money and not to mention the bragging rights you will have knowing you own a pair of sneakers signed by John Paxson. Am I right? Hello?
