Former NBA forward Robert “Tractor” Traylor was found dead today at his home in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico where he was playing for the Vaqueros (“Cowboys”) de Bayamon, the club confirmed on Facebook. He was 34 years old.
The much-maligned 6’8″ player battled weight problems throughout his playing career and was actually traded for Dirk Nowitzki to Milwaukee in 1998 after being drafted #6 out of the University of Michigan.
Unconfirmed reports out of Puerto Rico claim he died of a heart attack, no surprise given he had surgery due to an enlarged aortic valve above his heart in 2005 which was discovered by the New Jersey Nets when they were considering signing him.
According to Primera Hora, Traylor’s whereabouts were unknown for days while rehabbing from an injury until his body was found in his apartment today.
