The Number 11 Is Worth Lots Of Cash For Blazers’ Crawford

How much would you pay for a particular number on your basketball jersey? $50 bucks? $100 bucks? Well for new Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford, having the number 11 on his new jersey cost him a whopping $12,000.

That’s right, Crawford dished out a large amount of dough to new teammate Luke Babbitt (who wore 11 for Portland) so he can keep on sporting the number as he has done throughout his NBA career. But Babbitt felt he was short-changed.

“He low-balled me,” Babbitt told the Oregonian. “So I came back with something and we met in the middle.”

Now I have to know what Luke’s initial asking price was! I mean if they met in the middle at 12k, you know it had to be some astronomical number originally.

But it gets even better for Babbitt. It seems he doesn’t even care about the jersey number.

“Besides, I didn’t even like 11. I don’t put a whole lot of stock into the number you wear and a number isn’t worth that much to me. So I’m a happy man.”

Doesn’t this just make you wish you had that kind of scratch to play with over a number. A number people! Well Crawford did ink a $10-million deal with the Blazers so it is safe to say this won’t put a dent in his bank account.

And who says the U.S. is in an economic crisis?
