The 2012 London Olympics games are inching closer and the city of London is gearing up for the masses.
Currently, the Olympic Test Event is underway and if you’re an NBA fan looking for a quick fix of pro ball, then you have to be watching this. Basically, these games are to test the new Olympic basketball arena and feature squads such as Great Britain, France, Australia and China.
And as much as fans might be tuning in to watch how some of their favorite international NBA players, putting on an Olympic basketball event is a huge undertaking. What does it take to organize such an event?
Check out this video where you get a behind the scenes look at what it takes to handle an Olympic event including Yi Jianlian doing his best Dirk Nowitzki fade away jumper.
And for those of you not looking forward to the pre-Olympic qualifiers or scoff at the fact it’s not dotted with high profile NBA stars, then shame on you. There are great matchups on the horizon such as Spain with Pau Gasol taking on France with their NBA studded team, and team Argentina with members of their glory teams such as Manu Ginobili, Fabricio Oberto, Luis Scola, Carlos Delfino, reuniting once again. I highly recommend tuning in for some great basketball.
