Team lose games they shouldn’t all the time. It’s the nature of the NBA schedule. There’s too many games to be laser focused on each one. Still, there are games where you really shouldn’t lose. For the Minnesota Timberwolves, that game came last night. Up 21 points, the T’Wolves lost to the Golden State Warriors Monday night, but they didn’t just lose to the lowly Warriors. They lost to the Warriors Summer League Team and Richard Jefferson. Jefferson and Brandon Wright were the only regular rotation guys to play and the Warriors started four, FOUR rookies. After the game, T’Wolves guard J.J. Barea commenced with the under the bus throwing in the locker room.
“We’ve got problems here,” Barea said after playing all 48 minutes. “We’ve got a lot of guys that don’t care. … We’re just going to keep getting L’s until we get players here that care.”
I could mock the guy, but here’s a guy that less than a year ago was on his way to winning an NBA title so I’m sure a team that started out with such promise going up in flames is tough to deal with. According to NBA.com, head coach Rick Adelman sympathizes with Barea.
“Adelman said after practice Tuesday he supports players speaking up when they see something they don’t like.”
It should be noted that Kevin Love (concussion) and Ricky Rubio (torn ACL which tore out all our hearts) did not play in this game, but it really doesn’t excuse losing to the Dakota Wizards (and Richard Jefferson) so kudos to Barea for speaking up about this terrible loss.
