As if dealing with Dwight Howard and his ailing back wasn’t bad enough, comes this bit of good news for the Orlando Magic and Glen Davis.
Davis suffered a knee injury (hyperextended right knee) Sunday night versus the Cavaliers and at first, the injury looked really bad. However, an MRI revealed Davis’ knee sustained no structural damage which is great news to receive for Davis.
“I’m really relieved,” Davis said. “I’m just blessed and fortunate that nothing really bad happened.”
But for Magic fans wondering how soon “Big Baby” will be back in action, head coach Stan Van Gundy says the team doesn’t know but the injury shouldn’t sideline Davis for long.
“We don’t know how long it’ll be,” Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. “But at least it shouldn’t be a long-term thing.”
Davis sat out last night’s Magic game versus the Sixers and will have a day off before Orlando’s big game against the Boston Celtics. The same Celtics team that has not only handled the Magic this season (Orlando is 0-3 against Boston this season) but will be a game Davis would like to play against his former team.
And since the Celtics are next for the Magic, they will need every body to send a statement to the guys in green and white should they meet in the playoffs.
However, if there was any silver lining to this recent hit by the injury bug to the Magic’s frontline is that players such as Daniel Orton and Earl Clark got in some valuable playing time which should help Orlando should they be called upon during the playoffs.
