Miller, Nelson highlight Hall of Fame finalist

Reggie MillerA year after getting snubbed from the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, former Indiana Pacers sharp shooter Reggie Miller headlines the finalists for the Hall of Fame, according to Fox Sports.

Don Nelson, Bernard King and Maurice Cheeks also highlight the 12 finalists for this year’s class.  Miller and Cheeks were the only two finalists in attendance for the press conference.  Miller discussed what an honor it is to be talked about in the same breath with some of his idols growing up.

”When you’re in the backyard and you’re trying to play the 3-2-1 game, and you’re trying to be the Iceman (George Gervin) and do the figure roll.” Miller said. “Now to be on the same stage with these guys. It’s just a great honor.”

The 2012 class will be announced April 2 at the NCAA Final Four in New Orleans. A finalist needs 18 of 24 votes from the Honors Committee for election.

Other nominees include former college standouts Jamaal Wilkes and Ralph Sampson and the All-American Red Heads, the first women’s professional basketball team.  Red Heads, we’re rooting for you.
