Rose Goes ‘Crazy,’ Needs To Calm Down

Chicago Bulls’ Derrick RoseDerrick Rose missed two big free throws against the Miami Heat, free throws that cost the Bulls the game (well that and their inability to stop LeBron James).  Rose was near tears after the game, saying he felt like he let his team and the city of Chicago down.

The next day, the Bulls traveled to Washington to take on the Wizards.  Mike McGraw of the Daily Herald was one of several reporters who spoke with Rose before the game and the reigning NBA MVP said he hadn’t gotten over the loss to Miami and was planning on taking his frustrations out on John Wall and the Wizards.

“It just makes me hungrier,” Rose told reporters before the game. “Tonight, I’m going to try and go crazy.”

Rose had 35 points, eight assists and three blocks that game, so mission accomplished.  The bigger issue is that Rose is taking on a ton of added presure by letting these January losses get to him.  It’s great Rose wants to be clutch and wants to win every night, but what is all that added stress going to do for him come playoff time?

I don’t remember Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant or any other multiple time champion getting so worked up over a regular season game in the middle of January.  Save the energy and the emotion for when it matters most.  This is how stomach ulcers happen.
