Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio is set to have surgery to repair his torn ACL this Wednesday in Colorado per his tweet.
On my way to Vail to get surgery on Wed.Ready 4 da countdown.I’m dying to start my rehab. If u smile everything is way better 🙂 #bepositive
Prior to his season-ending injury, Rubio was averaging 10.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 8.2 assists in 41 games for Minnesota and was giving Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving a run for the Rookie of the Year award.
For Minnesota fans thinking Rubio might come back this season, think again. This is a huge procedure on the horizon for Rubio and not to mention the lengthy rehab process post-surgery.
Sure T’Wolves fans are pretty bummed, but there are positives. The team will be able to secure a quality draft pick in this upcoming NBA Draft which is said to be a very deep draft. Minnesota will be able to add any missing piece they need to make the squad much stronger. Not to mention Rubio stronger, healthy and raring to go for his sophomore season.
So the future is bright Minnesota so keep your chin up just as Rubio is doing during this rough patch in his basketball career.
