The NBA free agency reports are flying about and it is enough to make any fan’s head spin.
Seems hourly some report surfaces with a player being sought by a team only to have yet another team and player linked together.
However, probably the most assured free agency report you will read here at Crossover is the fact Spurs’ free agent Tim Duncan is not going anywhere.
TD is a free agent but let’s face it, “The Big Fundamental” is retiring a Spur.
However, there is still the task at hand, and he does need to re-sign with the Spurs. The latest news has the two sides making good progress in hammering out a new deal according to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears.

Duncan had a solid season last year for the Spurs. He averaged 15.4 points, 1.5 blocks, 9 rebounds, and shot 49 percent from the field in the regular season. For the playoffs, he averaged 17.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, and shot 49 percent from the field.
Now the question is how long and how much should any contract be for a player who is clearly seeing the end of his NBA career nearing? He obviously proved he has plenty left in the tank and should be offered a 2-3 year offer. Perhaps something similar to his contemporary, Kevin Garnett, who just received a three-year deal at $34 million.
One also has to wonder if Duncan will take a page out of Spurs’ legend Davd Robinson and structure a deal which will be cap-friendly for the Spurs in order to attract top-tier free agents for yet another run at a title before he retires.
The Spurs have other decisions to make with their other free agents (such as Danny Green, DeJuan Blair, or Patty Mills) and international prospects (Erazem Lorbek and Nando De Colo) but clearly Duncan has to be priority number one and has a few good years left.
