Flopping.
Say what you will about the “tactic” NBA players use to get the refs to make a call in their favor, it sure does draw the ire of many fans, players and in particular Jeff Van Gundy.
What’s that? How much does flopping get to Van Gundy you ask? Well I am glad you did.
In a recent game between the Miami Heat and New York Knicks, James Jones of the Heat went to the flop to draw a foul on Knicks’ Iman Shumpert. Then this happened (h/t awfulannouncing.com).
Classic Van Gundy.
Nevertheless, flopping has been so integrated into NBA games that it is almost the norm now. I for one hate it when it is done to my favorite team (Spurs in case you were wondering) but love it when a Spurs player (more than likely Manu Ginobili) does it to an opposing player.
But what really can do done about it? It is a hard to judge for a ref depending on the angle of view, difficult to discern if a player is faking the hit or really did get hit.
Hate to break the news to you Van Gundy but flopping my be here to stay.
What say you Crossover fans? Where do you side on the flopping debate?
