Derrick Rose out indefinitely

The Bulls received some bad news Saturday but i was not the worst possible news they could have received.

Derrick Rose is out indefinitely after tearing the meniscus in his right knee. Rose will require surgery and returned to Chicago after receiving an MRI while the team is in Los Angeles.

This is crushing news for the Bulls, who sit at 6-5 and have struggled on the offensive end as somehwat expected. Rose continued to put up big scoring games — 15.9 points and 4.3 assists per game — but often waned in the second half of games. He was still clearly getting his legs back underneath him after missing all of last year recovering from a torn ACL.

The meniscus tear was not the same knee that Rose tore his ACL in two years ago. The initial fear was that Rose had torn his ACL.

Rose left Friday's loss to the Trail Blazers clutching his knee. He left the Moda Center on crutches, causing everyone to fear the worst for him. This is bad, just not the worst.

So Chicago will have to soldier on again and wait the potential 4-6 week recovery time.
