The NBA trade rumor mill has heated up a little earlier than expected thanks to Pau Gasol being the scape goat for the Lakers' troubles and Rudy Gay kinda, sorta getting made available. But Tuesday was the day the NBA trade season unofficially started.
Tuesday was the day that several players who re-signed with their teams using Larry Bird or Early Bird Rights can be traded. Here is a look at that complete list according to ESPN.
Boston Celtics: Brandon Bass, Jeff Green;
Brooklyn Nets: Kris Humphries, Brook Lopez;
Denver Nuggets: JaVale McGee;
Golden State Warriors: Brandon Rush;
Indiana Pacers: Roy Hibbert, George Hill;
Los Angeles Clippers: Chauncey Billups;
Los Angeles Lakers: Jordan Hill;
Memphis Grizzlies: Darrell Arthur, Marresse Speights;
Milwaukee Bucks: Ersan Ilyasova;
New York Knicks: Steve Novak;
Portland Trailblazers: Nicolas Batum;
San Antonio Spurs: Danny Green;
Utah Jazz: Jeremy Evans.
Some of those names are really interesting and some of them are not.
Both Brandon Bass and Jeff Green are interesting names because the Celtics have been rumored to want to shake things up without trading Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce or Kevin Garnett. Good luck getting someone to take Green's contract back, but Bass is certainly moveable.
While the Rudy Gay rumors are out there, it would not be surprising to see Memphis try to move Speights or Arthur to get another shooter or two. Ilyasova is another name to keep an eye on because his productivity has not been great and the Bucks certainly have a log jam at power forward right now.
The NBA trade deadline is Thursday, February 21 this year, just over five weeks away.
