Kevin Love talks to ESPN about Wolves, future

Stephen Dunn/Getty Images/ZimbioA lot of NBA players will be making the rounds as the sports world turns its attention to the NBA Finals. It is always nice to be reminded of some of the players that did not make the Playoffs and remember that they do exist.

That goes double for Kevin Love, who played in only 18 games this season and averaged 18.3 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. Whether it was a broken hand or nagging knee issues, Love just could not stay on the floor. And a bright season for the Timberwolves came crashing down. Ricky Rubio, Alexey Shved and Nikola Pekovic are good, but Love makes them really interesting.

Love was on the ESPN campus talking about his preparation for the offseason and his relationship with new Timberwolves general manager Flip Saunders:

Love said he is happy in Minnesota and is excited to get going with guys like Rick Adelman and Flip Saunders in the fold for the near future in Minnesota. Love is excited to move forward.

The Timberwolves finished 31-51. Love's Playoff guarantee did not exactly come through because of all the injuries in Minnesota. He renewed that guarantee if everyone on Minnesota can stay healthy.

As to his upcoming free agency in 2015?

Love said he has been told Minnesota will not trade him and he has no intention of leaving Minnesota if the team keeps building in the correct manner. Making good on that first career playoff berth in 2014 would be a good start.
