Pistons getting ‘Motor City’ jerseys

The Pistons unveiled a new alternate jersey Wednesday, adding to the NBA's wardrobe for the year. The dark blue jerseys have "Motor City" emblazoned on them and the waiting list is already set up:

The Pistons will wear these uniforms on select Sunday night games in conjunction with "Motor City Nights" at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Let that irony wash over you a little bit perhaps. Detroit is a mess right now with the potential bankruptcy the city is preparing to file. It is well documented that the city has hit hard times as the automotive industry has slowly moved out. Some pride would be a good thing.

The Pistons are putting themselves in position to deliver some pride if they can get back to the Playoffs. Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond, Brandon Jennings and Josh Smith are certain to make an impact this season. Whether it is enough to make the Playoffs is the question.

In the Eastern Conference. . . yeah, that should be enough.

There is nothing particularly distinctive about this alternate jersey. It just simply says "Motor City." I guess it is another excuse to sell some uniforms.

Phoenix's uniforms get unveiled tomorrow.
