Source: Lamar Odom decision coming soon

After Dwight Howard ditched the Los Angeles Lakers to join the Houston Rockets, the Lakers have been feverishly looking for free agents to bolster their roster, despite the fact that the Lakers have very limited financial flexibility.

There has been talk about the possible return of forward Lamar Odom to the Lakers recently, and it has picked up steam over the past 24 hours. One league source told Crossover Chronicles on Tuesday that Odom is, in fact, expected to sign with the Lakers in the near future. Odom is currently mulling his options and is contemplating whether or not he should take the veteran’s minimum from the Lakers, the source said.

Another person close to Odom was adamant that Odom has not made up his mind yet about his future. “At this point, Lamar has not made a decision about his future,” the person said. “He will soon.”

There’s that word again – soon. Odom is not expected to draw out this process, but multiple teams have shown interest in the 33-year-old versatile forward.

The Lakers used their last salary cap exception – the mini mid-level exception – when they recently signed center Chris Kaman, so they only can offer the veteran’s minimum at this point.
