This is the part everyone will just have to get over right away:
Andrew Bynum is going to sign with an NBA team. He is going to get more than $10 million. And it is likely to be a multi-year deal with a team option for the second year.
Those seem to be the parameters for Andrew Bynum as he considers where he is going to play next year. And there is a competition for him believe it or not. It is largely beleived Bynum is gaining serious interest from the Cavaliers, Hawks and Mavericks.
All three have the money and the need at center to at least go for this experiment. Bynum was expected to make a decision Tuesday, but nothing has come from Bynum's camp as of yet.
And it will be an experiment for whoever signs him. Bynum missed the entire season with the nagging knee injuries that have plagued his entire career. This though came after a year Bynum reached his first All-Star Game and averaged 18.7 points per game and 11.8 rebounds per game. He stepped his game up even more in the Playoffs.
After years of never quite tapping into his potential, it seemed that Bynum had finally arrived as a dominant big man in the NBA. The trade to Philadelphia was supposed to give him a chance to be the centerpiece of the franchise. His body did not cooperate with that plan.
And so, Bynum now is a big mystery both to himself and to any team that might pick him up.
One thing we know, some team is going to take that risk. Whether it be Cleveland, Atlanta or Dallas, someone is taking a huge financial risk that Bynum will become what he once was and could have been.
