A preview of the top 5 most expensive games for Wizards tickets

The Washington Wizards made a huge leap in 2013-14, as they got out of the first round of the playoffs and even gave the top-seeded Indiana Pacers something to think about in round two.

This year, they are gunning for it all. Veteran swing man Paul Pierce brings a much-needed veteran presence, while the team retained their size down low to try to make a deeper run.

With John Wall manning the point and youngsters Bradley Beal and Otto Porter hopefully continuing to make strides, there is a strong chance the Wizards are going to be one of the Eastern Conference’s most competitive teams.

It is anyone’s guess if they will get past the second round this year, but it is clear the value of Wizards tickets is very much on the rise. Let’s see how that maps out as we break down the top five most expensive home games this year on the Wizards schedule, according to ticket data provided by ScoreBig:

Nov. 21, 2014 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers | Average Ticket Price: $227.10 | Get-in Ticket Price: $47

The funny part about breaking down Washington’s most expensive home games for this year, is that the one topping the list is not even all that expensive. In fact, when you factor in that it is LeBron James and the Cavaliers, it is really a steal. Wizards tickets have an average ticket price of $227 for this November 21 date with LeBron and Cleveland, but you can find tickets for as low as $47. And when you consider the fact that Verizon Center parking can be had for as little as $10, your whole evening could cost less than $120 for two tickets.

Feb. 20, 2015 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers | Average Ticket Price: $222.47 | Get-in Ticket Price: $55

Didn’t love the value of Washington’s first dance with the Cavs? This one is $5 cheaper. It is a little more just to get in, but odds are the Wiz are going to be even more ready for this matchup the second time around. It is also in the second half of the season, when teams tend to play their best ball. This one could be a barn burner and at a get-in price of just $55, a pretty inexpensive ticket.

Dec. 3, 2014 vs. Los Angeles Lakers | Average Ticket Price: $182.40 | Get-in Ticket Price: $30

Washington is on its way up the ranks, but they still have to pay their dues and respects. Part of that is graciously hosting Kobe Bryant and then hopefully dispatching him and his Lakers ever so kindly. Regardless of how this game unfolds, it is an insane value for a high profile matchup and star player hitting the court. According to ScoreBig.com, tickets are available for as low as $30 to see the “Showtime” Lakers visit the Verizon Center.

Jan. 21, 2015 vs. Oklahoma City Thunder | Average Ticket Price: $179.19 | Get-in Ticket Price: $36

Kevin Durant brings more attention to Washington’s home court, as John Wall and company get to measure themselves further against a very good Thunder team. There is even more value to be had here in Wizards tickets, as fans do not even have to pay $180 on average to see this one live. And according to ParkWhiz, parking for the game is available for as low as $6, making this night a potential bargain.

Dec. 12, 2014 vs. Chicago Bulls | Average Ticket Price: $154.02 | Get-in Ticket Price: $29

Derrick Rose and the Bulls finish up Washington’s top five most expensive home games in what should continue to be a bitter rivalry. Rose’s health is obviously key here, but the addition of big man Pau Gasol also adds to the hype. This could be a potential playoff preview.
