Utah Jazz shooting guard Alec Burks is going to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing shoulder injury on Wednesday. Burks had missed the previous two games with a shoulder ailment and after getting it checked out by the medical staff, they decided to shut him down for the season and opt for surgery. The possibility of injuring it again was too high and not worth the risk according to Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey.
“Alec’s long-term health has been our top priority throughout this process, and although it is unfortunate that we will be without his services on the court the rest of this season, we commend Alec’s commitment and continued effort to play through considerable pain to this point.”
The 6’6″ shooting guard was averaging about 14 points, three assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting a career-high 38.2% from beyond the arc. This can’t really hurt the Jazz at this point who are currently 11-21 and have zero expectations of getting to the playoffs. Long-term player health is definitely the right move here.
