The Kings new stadium, the piece of the puzzle that very well guaranteed the franchise's continued presence in the state's capital, became one step closer to reality.
The Kings, the city of Sacramento and design firm AECOM unveiled the first renderings of the new stadium which city leaders hope will revive Sacramento's downtown area and provide a new (hopefully loud) home for the Kings and their passionate fan base.

This is a glimpse not only into the new arena, but into the future of downtown Sacramento,” said Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. “I applaud the Kings and AECOM for developing a design that achieves so many goals: reactivating downtown, developing an iconic civic space, and promoting our emerging green and agricultural sectors. The extensive public outreach done by the Kings and City has paid off in a design that truly celebrates the best of our community's great past and even brighter future.
The new arena looks very very impressive.
The open-air design seems to engage with the surrounding plaza and the open-air windows appear to give fans on the outside a look into the stadium with the baility to watch the game on the jumbotron from outside the arena. In the video posted above, Vivek Ranadive suggested it is a ticket-less experience for fans to celebrate their Kings.
Considering the long battle from Sacramento fans just to keep the team, this is a great palace for them to celebrate their victory.
Of course, the battle is seemingly not over. While the Kings move forward with plans to get the stadium completed, a local Sacramento group is trying to put the measure on the ballot. The petition movement hit a snag when their petition was rejected by the city clerk for procedural deficiencies.
So the Kings will move forward with the plans and construction of their new building. And it looks like it will be one of the most unique arenas in the NBA.
