Chris Copeland in stable condition after stabbing

Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland is in the hospital and is in stable condition after he was stabbed in the abdomen early Wednesday morning. His wife was also slashed and she is in stable condition as well at Bellevue Hospital. The Pacers are in town to play the Knicks Wednesday night.

The incident took place as Copeland and the suspected attacker were leaving the nightclub and an argument broke out, but it is unclear if Copeland was involved in it. The suspected attacker, 22-year-old Shezoy Bleary, was arrested, and charges against him are pending.

Atlanta Hawks players Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha were also at the scene and arrested. They were charged after refusing to move so that police could establish a crime scene according to sources telling the Daily News. The Hawks are in town to play the Nets on Wednesday.
