Donatas Motiejunas to miss rest of season and playoffs

The Houston Rockets have had serious injury problems all year and suffered another blow on Wednesday when it was announced that forward Donatas Motiejunas would sit out the rest of the season including playoffs. Sam Amick of USA Today reported that Motiejunas will miss the rest of the season due to his back injury. ESPN.com’s Marc Stein denied thatMotiejunas had a setback but acknowledged “his injury simply isn’t improving.”

While Motiejunas isn’t a household name — maybe not even in Houston households — but he is a big part of the Rockets’ game plan and is a huge mismatch for most players who match up with him. Motiejunas has appeared in 71 games, starting 62, and is averaging 12.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
