According to a report from Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal, The Cleveland Cavaliers are the favorites for the services of Kendrick Perkins once he’s inevitably bought out by the Utah Jazz in the coming days.

The Cavs have been very busy this season mixing and matching various pieces, like adding Timofey Mozgov, J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert, but they could still use a bit more big-man depth. Perkins would certainly provide that, and the Cavs would have to feel pretty good about a Kevin Love, Mozgov, Tristan Thompson and Perkins big-man rotation going forward.
Update:
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Perk-to-Cleveland is definitely happening now after Perkins’ contact is bought out by the Utah Jazz.
“After completing a contract buyout with the Utah Jazz, center Kendrick Perkins plans to sign a free agent deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, his agent Arn Tellem told Yahoo Sports on Saturday.
Perkins’ reps and the Jazz reached agreement on the buyout on Saturday afternoon, and Perkins can sign with the Cavaliers once he clears waivers on Monday at 5 p.m. EST.
Perkins strongly considered the Los Angeles Clippers, too.
For the Cavaliers, Perkins will be a backup center to Timofy Mozgov.”
The Cavs just keep getting deeper.
