The All-Star reserves, as chosen by the coaches, were supposed to be announced on TNT Thursday night, but of course Adrian Wojnarowski and others couldn’t let it go down that way. They just had to break the news because they’re too good to wait. Either way, we know who will be in New York for the festivities and coming off the bench. The reserves list looks like this:
East
Paul Millsap – Atlanta Hawks
Jimmy Butler – Chicago Bulls
Al Horford – Atlanta Hawks
Jeff Teague – Atlanta Hawks
Kyrie Irving – Cleveland Cavaliers
Chris Bosh – Miami Heat
Dwyane Wade – Miami Heat
West
Kevin Durant – Oklahoma City Thunder
Klay Thompson – Golden State Warriors
James Harden – Houston Rockets
LaMarcus Aldridge – Portland TrailBlazers
Russell Westbrook – Oklahoma City Thunder
Chris Paul – Los Angeles Clippers
Tim Duncan – San Antonio Spurs
This will be Duncan’s 15th All-Star selection while it’s Klay Thompson’s first and the first time that Golden State will have two All-Stars (with Stephen Curry as a starter) since the 1991-92 season. It’s Harden’s third (all with Houston) while this is the first time since 1979-80 that Atlanta has had three All-Stars selected. Wade is currently nursing a hamstring injury so it’s likely that he will be replaced for the game. Kyle Korver is someone that a lot of people think might take his spot even though he is already in the three-point shooting contest. Some notable omissions are Damian Lillard, DeMarcus Cousins, and Kevin Love.
