Trail Blazers latest to pursue Jermaine O’Neal

Portland has officially entered the race for big man Jermaine O’Neal. They originally drafted him out of high school in the now-legendary 1996 draft and he played there for four year until he was traded to Indiana where he spent the bulk and prime of his career. The Blazers are trying to bolster a front court that has had injuries to guys like Robin Lopez (hand) and Joel Freeland (shoulder). However, the Mavericks are considered front runners for him because that is where he has made his offseason home and has moved his family there. The Cavaliers and Clippers are also possible landing spots for the 36-year old who is currently in Germany getting Regenokine treatment on his knee. Ultimately, the decision comes down to O’Neal’s family – he has a 15-year old daughter and 8-year old son – on whether he makes a comeback or not.
