Ty Lawson pleads guilty to drunk driving charges

Houston Rockets point guard Ty Lawson pleaded guilty to charges regarding a DUI, which he was arrested for in January, according to ESPN.com

Lawson was pulled over in Denver—when he was with the Nuggets—and the police said that they smelled alcohol on him. He then went on to fail a sobriety test.

Lawson was originally charged with drunken driving and speeding, but pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired and a lane violation, which stated he was constantly switching lanes. Lawson could face up to 180 days in jail, and will be sentenced on January 14.

A judge ordered him to complete a 30-day rehabilitation program before the trial proceeds.
