Los Angeles Lakers star shooting guard Kobe Bryant is set to undergo an MRI on his right shoulder. He tweaked it in the loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night and tried to play through it, but coach Byron Scott had other plans for him. He took him out when Bryant shot a 14-footer with his left hand and was clearly favoring the shoulder. Kobe had just come back from a two game absence and it was the 36-year old’s first game in nearly a week and depending on the MRI results, Scott said he’ll continue to play Bryant in spots and on a minutes limit in an effort to help Bryant recover from playing too much earlier in the season.
UPDATE (Jan. 22, 2014 5:00 p.m.): Kobe’s MRI has confirmed a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder and he will undergo more examinations to make sure this is in fact the issue.
