Anderson Varejao has suffered a fractured wrist, an MRI reveals. Tough blow for Cavs and him. Many teams had been anxious to trade for him.

This is a tough situation for the Cavs and for Varejao, who had been his best season so far. For the first time in his career, he was averaging a double-double. He put up his first 20 rebound game of his career a couple of weeks ago. And he’s the league’s best offensive rebounder (a league-best 15.6 offensive rebounding percentage).
The Cavs, though they had a terrible record, had a guy who they could either keep as an high energy player to rebound and finish around the rim… or trade to a team that had assets to help speed up the rebuilding process and give phenom Kyrie Irving some help.
The only plus you can manufacture out of this, and trust me, we’re reaching to help make Cavs fans feel better, is that this will get the Cavs a better draft position in what’s supposed to be a loaded field. The Cavs weren’t going anywhere this year anyway, so you might as well hope to get Kyrie a great young running mate.
That’s the best I can do, Cavs fans. I tried to sugar-coat this turd as best I could. This is a tough, tough blow.
