Phil Rossman-Reich:  When 28 points is your “bad offensive” night of the week, something is going very right in your career. Durant scored a career-high 51 points in that overtime win against the Nuggets on Sunday, followed it up with 31 points in a win over New Orleans. And then had that 28-point stinker against Boston on Wednesday. For the week, he shot 55.1 percent from the floor which is absolutely unreal for a scorer. Is there any doubt that Durant might be the best scorer in the NBA? Sorry, Kobe…

Trevor Zickgraf: 51 points last Sunday & scored at least 28 points in each of his 4 games this week.  He’s finishing in the paint more & rebounding better then I can remember him doing in year’s past. He’d be a runaway for MVP if LeBron weren’t having one of the greatest regular seasons ever.

John Karalis:  Durant is the obvious choice.  I’m mostly impressed with the rebounding and the defense, which will be key for Oklahoma City.  They are at their best in transition, so the take-aways and boards are obviously a gigantic help.  It’s that do-it-all mentality that make Durant the only player in the league that can compare in any way to LeBron James.

PLAYS OF THE WEEK

Phil: Now that Miami has decided to go full-speed ahead with the running offense, the rest of the NBA cannot afford to miss shots. Otherwise stuff like this play happens. Um, wow. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are unstoppable when they have some speed behind them. But Wade goes from blocking a shot to half court in an instant and the poor Sacramento Kings were left defenseless.

John:  Call me crazy, but I like this Blake dunk better than the Mozgov or Perkins dunks.  You still have a sick posterization, but you also have the pure power that those other plays are missing.  To me, that’s a necessary element for a truly great dunk.

Trevor: In a dunk contest that wasn’t awesome, that dunk was in fact awesome.
