Twitter / @KBergCBS: #Magic officials have been … via kwout
Are you dizzy yet?
An Orlando TV station first reported that Dwight was not going to opt out. Now it’s been confirmed by Ken Berger. There is still the matter of Dwight officially informing the team in writing that he will not exercise his early termination option. Otherwise, this could just be one big ruse aimed at fooling the Magic.
That’s a bit of a conspiracy theory there, but the way this whole thing played out, nothing would shock me. It was only last night that Dwight said he was going to stick around and then the team would have to roll the dice. He got skewered for that with a ton of “he wants to have his cake and eat it too” pieces.
Suddenly now he wants to stick around? Sorry, the numbers just don’t add up.
Of course, if he does give the team a written commitment to play out his contract, then great. We get to go through all this mess again next year. If he doesn’t, then it’s another crack in the foundation of Dwight’s crumbling reputation. As always… stay tuned. This thing ain’t over yet.
