Blazers fire McMillan

The Portland Trail Blazers started the season hot. They were 7-2 and had people thinking they might contend for the Western Conference title. Now they’re sitting at 20-23 and the team clearly isn’t happy with the way things are headed.

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the Blazers have fired head coach Nate McMillan. McMillan has been with the team for 7 years, going 266-269 during that team. For the last few years, the Blazers have been a team with a lot of talent and promise, but injuries keep getting in the way.

The Blazers also traded away Gerald Wallace and Marcus Camby today, the day after a 42-point loss to the New York Knicks. It looks like they’re looking for a new beginning.

Assistant coach Kaleb Canales will be taking over as the interim coach.
