That would be 2:00 San Antonio time.

This is an award Pop totally deserves.  No one expected San Antonio to be this good, especially with Manu Ginobili being out for a month and the need to rest his starters more often than other teams.

But it worked out well so far.  It also helps that Tony Parker is getting MVP mentions.  When the Spurs were muddling along as a “win at home, lose on the road” team, it was Parker that picked up his game and led the Spurs to a near sweep of their monster “rodeo road trip.”  That was where it all turned around for San Antonio.  That’s when they served notice that they were legit.

Assuming this report is accurate, this will be Pop’s second COY award (2003).  Tom Thibodeau and Doc Rivers were the two closest competitors for this award, and a legitimate argument could have been made for any of those three.  But Popovich was at the top of my list too.  This is much deserved.
