With the recent firing of Donnie Walsh as New York Knicks’ president, several potential 
replacements who were originally targeted by Walsh as potential Knicks GMs could know be up for his job of president.
One of those named by Alan Hahn in a recent Newsday article was former Portland Trailblazers GM Kevin Pritchard, whose replacement, Rich Cho was also recently fired.
But it appears Paul Allen could have had a change of heart since firing Pritchard on draft day last year, and the Knicks may not have the option of going after one of their top prospects.
Of the above candidates, the Knicks can’t contact Pritchard until July 1, when his contract with the Trail Blazers expires. They fired him last year (in a stunning draft-night announcement) with one season left on his deal.
Pritchard, however, might not be an option for long. Coincidentally, two weeks ago, the Blazers fired Pritchard’s replacement, Rich Cho, and an NBA source said Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen ‘s staff recently discussed bringing Pritchard back.
Allen and Dolan have a good relationship, and a source said “there’s a good chance Jim would call” Allen about Pritchard, who worked for the Trail Blazers for five years and quickly climbed the ladder from director of player personnel and interim coach to GM.
In Pritchard’s time in the Blazers front office, he drafted LaMarcus Aldridge, Brandon Roy, Rudy Fernandez, Nicolas Batum and orchestrated trades for Andre Miller and Marcus Camby.
If Pritchard made a return, the Blazers still have the pieces necessary to get back on the fast track to being a powerhouse in the Western Conference.
