Lockout All Star Game Announced For August

Every year, premier summer leagues tend to draw big names for a game or two as players drop in to get some run.  In LA, its The Drew League.  In DC, is the Goodman League.  DeMar DeRozan and Shannon Brown have rocked the Drew League’s rims already this year.  So has Kevin Durant.  But then again, Durant has also shown out at the Goodman League.

This year, the two leagues have decided to face off and determine which one is THE summer league of choice.  In an event billed as “Capital Punishment”, the best Drew and Goodman have to offer will play at Georgetown’s McDonough Arena on August 20th.

Check out the rosters:

The Goodman League*                    The Drew League*

  • Kevin Durant                                  James Harden
  • John Wall                                       DeMar DeRozan
  • Tywon Lawson                                Nick Young
  • Gary Neal                                       Dorell Wright
  • Tyreke Evans                                  Brandon Jennings
  • Michael Beasley                              Javelle McGee
  • Demarcus Cousins                           Craig Smith
  • Josh Selby                                      Pooh Jeter
  • Sam Young                                     Bobby Brown
  • Donte Green                                   Marcus Williams
  • Baby “Shaq” Jones                          TBA
  • Emanuel “Duce” Jones                     TBA
  • Warren “D-Nice” Jefferson                TBA

I didn’t realize the TBA triplets were balling at The Drew.

The asterisks mean these guys are “scheduled” to appear.  Which means there’s no way all these guys will be there.  But IF they all do go, this will end up being the premier basketball event of the summer.  The Goodman roster is stacked.  Can you imagine Wall and KD on the break?  This is basically going to be known as the “Lockout All Star Game.”

Right now there’s no online link for tickets.  The event’s web page says to go to Georgetown’s box office.  If you can’t get to the Georgetown box office, you can try calling them at 202-687-4692.  You can also follow the event’s organizers, The Basketball Channel, on twitter @thebasketballch for event updates.  If you can’t get there, the site says the event will be videotaped for future broadcast.  I’m sure YouTube will be full of the highlights pretty quickly though.
