Kyle Lowry On Dropping 56 Points At Impact On Thursday

Kyle Lowry went for 56 points in his Impact Basketball Game on Thursday in Las Vegas, and his performance was every bit as ridiculous as that stat line would indicate.  The previous high so far for the Series out at Impact had been 35 points, and Lowry shattered that mark by 21.

He took it in stride too, and told me it was all about getting the win when I caught up with him on his way off the floor yesterday.  Our exchange right after he erupted for 50+ is below:

While Lowry didn’t seem all that surprised by his performance, most people who read the sentence – ‘Kyle Lowry scored 56’ – probably would be.

He’s definitely proven to be a quality player in this League, and is certainly a young, upper-tier type lead guard, but he only scored 20 or more points 10 times last season for the Houston Rockets on his way to averaging 14 for the year.

He wasn’t forcing anything at all on his way to 56 on Thursday though, and turned in what is probably the best performance of the Series so far.  I tweeted at one point on Thursday that JJ Hickson is my MVP up to this point, and he still probably is, but Lowry certainly entered his name into that type of discussion with that number he just hung on the board.

Good sign for Houston Rocket Nation, I’d imagine.
